Gwyn has served as Director of the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline, a collaborative project between the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois, and the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network, since its’ inception in 1998. The 24/7, multi-lingual, multi-cultural hotline provides assistance throughout the State of Illinois proving information, crisis intervention, and linkage to services for domestic violence victims, perpetrators, their families and friends, medical personnel, employers, allied professionals, and the general public.
Gwyn is an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling. She serves on numerous committees and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Crisis Center Directors (NASCOD) and serves as President of the Board of The Safe Haven Network, a nonprofit organization that assists pets of battered women.
As an educator with the Centralized Training Institute (CTI) in Chicago, Illinois, Gwyn provides training and presentations on a variety of issues related to domestic violence. She has provided consultation and technical assistance to programs, businesses, and governments, in the United States and internationally.
